Riviera Maya Cenote Map
Sixteen cenotes between Puerto Morelos and Tulum on one map, each with its type (open, semi-open or cave), the entry fee sources report in pesos, opening hours, whether sunscreen and bug spray are allowed, and what facilities are on site. Filter by type, maximum fee or nearest town and the list under the map updates with it. Fees come with a basis label because most cenotes publish no price list: some are official, some agree across several 2026 sources, and some conflict. It is for travelers planning a cenote day who want to compare options before they drive. Check the gate price when you arrive.
Exchange rate 18.76 MXN per US$1 (ECB reference rate, 2026-10-22). Edit it to update the dollar figures.

How the map works and what it does not cover
The map plots 16 cenotes along Highway 307 and the Ruta de los Cenotes. Use the filters to narrow by type, to cap the entry fee, or to pick the town you are staying near; the list under the map always matches what the map shows. Click a pin to see its details, or press "Show on map" on any list card. Sorting by fee uses the top of each reported range, so a cenote marked 200-400 MXN counts as 400 for the max-fee filter. That keeps the filter honest: you will not be surprised by a gate price above your cap.
Why every fee has a basis label
Most cenotes are run by an ejido or a family, publish no rate card, and change prices without notice. Only a few have official pages with prices: the Dos Ojos park, Cenote Verde Lucero and Cenotes Sac Actun. For the rest we compared several 2025-26 sources and show a range when they disagree. Calavera, for example, appears at 100, 220 and 250 pesos on three different pages. Treat the range as a budget, carry cash in small bills, and trust the board at the gate over any website, including this one.
Gran Cenote hours: 8 a.m. or 10 a.m.?
This was a live conflict in our own guides. Tripadvisor's listing gives 8:10 to 16:45 with last entry at 16:15, a cenote directory gives 8:00 to 16:45, and We Seek Travel, Tulum Travel Blog and Mexico Cenotes and Ruins, all updated in 2025, say 8:00. The 10:00 figure traces to a single 2024 blog. We use 8:00 and flag that there is no official page to cite.
Sunscreen and bug spray
Cenotes are freshwater, and chemicals wash straight into the aquifer. Where a site states its own rule we show it: the official Dos Ojos park and Cenote Azul say none at all, even biodegradable, while Verde Lucero recommends biodegradable sunscreen. Where we could not find the rule, the table says "not confirmed" and you should assume none, rinse first, and put repellent on after you swim.
What it does not cover
It is not a complete list: there are thousands of cenotes, and we included only those where we could cross-check the location and find some price information. We left out Jardin del Eden because two map sources disagreed about its location by almost 900 m, and Chaak Tun because it sells guided tours with no published entry price. Hours, queue times, water clarity after rain and sargassum conditions are not live. Prices exclude parking, tips, guides, dive packages and camera fees. Pins mark the cenote, so allow extra time for dirt access roads on the Ruta de los Cenotes.

Frequently asked questions
What time does Gran Cenote open, 8 a.m. or 10 a.m.?
Eight a.m. is the better-supported answer. Tripadvisor, a regional cenote directory and three travel blogs updated in 2025 give opening between 8:00 and 8:10 and closing around 16:45, with last entry about 16:15. One 2024 blog said the opening moved to 10:00, and we found no 2025-26 source repeating it. Gran Cenote publishes no official page we could read, so arrive at 8:00, expect the gate to open on time, and treat a later start as the exception.
How much does Gran Cenote cost?
Every current source we found, including a September 2026 price comparison, gives 500 MXN for an adult, and it is cash only, with lockers about 30 MXN extra. Professional cameras and tripods are reported banned, so plan on phone photos.
Can I wear sunscreen or bug spray in a cenote?
Assume no. The official Dos Ojos park says not to apply sunscreen, tanning oil or repellent before entering, even biodegradable products, and requires a rinse shower. Cenote Azul and Gran Cenote say the same, and Siete Bocas asks visitors to avoid them. Cenote Verde Lucero recommends biodegradable sunscreen. Use a rash guard, apply repellent after you swim, and shower first.
Which cenotes are cheapest?
Car Wash is the cheapest named cenote near Tulum at about 100 MXN, followed by Cenote Azul at roughly 120-180 MXN and Cenote Cristal and Escondido near Tulum town at an estimated 120-200 MXN. Prices vary by operator and season, and the max-fee filter on this page uses the top of each reported range.
Are these map pins exact?
Each pin was cross-checked between OpenStreetMap and at least one independent source such as a map listing, Wikidata, Wikivoyage or geotagged photos, and most agree within about 150 m. The pin marks the cenote, not the ticket office or the car park, which can be on a different road. La Noria is the weakest: two sources agree and a third is 1.2 km away, so follow the signs once you are on the Ruta de los Cenotes.
